Zithromax
Generic Name: azithromycin
What
is Zithromax or
azithromycin (Zmax, Zithromax Z-Pak,
tri-pak)?
Zithromax or
azitromycin is
an antibiotic in the genre of the macrolides. This drug is used to treat many
infectious diseases such pneumonia, ear infections, bronchitis, STD, etc and
many other treatments as per the doctor’s specifications. It basically fights
the internal (inside the body) bacteria.
What you should watch before you commence your
treatment with Zithromax
or azithromycin?

Do not take Zithromax
or azitromycin if you have history of liver problems

Do not take this drug if you are breastfeeding an infant though
this antibiotic is known to be safe
for babies
- Do not stay in bright light as the use of
Zithromax or azitromycin will give
you high sensitivity to bright light
- Discontinue use of the drug immediately if you get any allergenic
reactions such as rashes, breathing difficulty, swelling of face and hands,
sudden bleeding, yellow skin and/or eyes; acute nausea, dizziness, bruising,
etc.
- Do not consume Zithromax
or azitromycin along with antacids (such as Maalox, Pepcid Complete,
etc)as they will decrease the
efficiency of the drug

There are a number of drugs which may react adversely with this
drug, hence before starting treatment ensure that your doctor know about all
the medicines you will be taking simultaneously with it, had taken before it
or will take after it
How best you should take
Zithromax or azithromycin?

Ensure that you follow the doctor’s prescription to the T and do
not avoid any of the contra-indications he has highlighted
- Ensure that you continue the treatment till you finish the whole
course and not discontinue the medication as soon as you feel better
- Ensure that you take the drug roughly at the same time of the day
so as to keep its efficiency at it peak
- These medicines can be taken both before and after food – make
sure you understand which time and what way you should take the medicine
- When in doubt, immediately get in touch with your doctor or
pharmacist

Do not take the doze in double measure if you missed one time; you
rather skip it, but be careful that you take as regularly as possible if you
want to give the desired results

Some medicine react negatively with the
Zithromax or azitromycincheck with
your doctor in case you are on any other medication

inform immediately
